Pain Management

Pain is a complex condition, divided into categories of acute and chronic.  Acute pain is usually caused by an accident or tissue damage.  As the injury heals the pain usually disappears.  Chronic pain is defined as pain that persists for longer than 3 months.

  • Women are more likely to be in pain than men
  • The most commonly reported pain is back pain
  • At any given time, about one third of Australians are in pain.

Unique options are available for pain management.  These include natural, over the counter, internal anti-inflammatory medicine as well as transdermal compounded formulations.  Pain reponds best to combined internal oral supplements with external topical applications.

Case Study

Problem: A man suffered with swollen,  painful knuckles & joints from rheumatoid arthritis. He found it hard to clench his fists & holding objects were difficult.

Treatment: The man was commensed on a high dose of marine lipids, a muscle relaxing mineral supplement & a medium chain fatty acid rheumatoid arthritis treatment.  He was given a list of foods to avoid which would inflame his condition.

Result: Two or three weeks later the patient reported a big improvement in his pain. The treatment had improved his quality of life, he was able to resume normal household chores like mowing the lawn & repairing the house. He was able to stop the anti-inflammatory medication prescribed by the doctor which was the only thing in the past to give him some relief.
