Michelle Keats

Naturopath

 

Michelle has been a naturopath for 20 years having studied an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy at Nature Care College in Sydney with qualifications in herbal medicine, nutrition, homeopathy and iridology. Michelle has a passion for food and all things healthy. She loves working with people who are looking to improve their health and need individualised help regarding foods that may work well for them.

Michelle loves helping families gain better health, with a particular interest in babies and children. She also has experience in treating various gut problems, in particular long term constipation and chronic gut issues, in people of all ages.

Michelle is active in the naturopathic community and regularly updates her knowledge by attending seminars and post graduate training to keep on top of the latest research in natural medicine.

She also works in a private clinic in Broadmeadow where she helps people with chronic illnesses such as rheumatoid arthritis, Lyme disease, long term gut issues as well as hormonal imbalances, anxiety and depression. Working at Visionary Health for 8 years, Michelle has enjoyed helping the wider community with a wide range of illnesses.

When she’s not at work Michelle loves the outdoors, especially bushwalking and spending time with her family.

Jo Roberts-Thomson

Naturopath

 

Jo has been a naturopath for 15 years and in the natural health industry for 25 years. She has worked in retail and clinical settings, as well as teaching Herbal Medicine and Clinical Studies to naturopathy students here in Newcastle at WEA Hunter. Jo studied an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy at Nature Care College in Sydney, graduating in 2005. Her studies covered Herbal Medicine, Nutrition, Homeopathy, Iridology and Bach Flowers.

Prior to studying Naturopathy, Jo studied three years of Psychology and has an interest in mental and emotional health, as well as menopause, adrenal fatigue and autoimmune disease. She has a special interest in supporting sensitive people and believes in listening to the body, going slowly and using gentle treatments. She also regularly attends seminars and professional development training to further her knowledge and keep updated on the latest research in natural medicine.

Jo also practices privately in her own clinic in Cooks Hill, where she does Iridology, food intolerance hair testing, NET (Neuro-Emotional Technique) and Reiki, as well as full Naturopathy consults with herbal medicine and nutrition. ​thenurturepath.com.au

Jo has been with us here at Visionary Health for 10 years now and outside of work enjoys yoga, meditation, reading and films, walking in nature and spending time with her family and dogs.

Sarah MacGurin

Naturopath

 

Sarah studied at Southern Cross University (Lismore) and graduated with a Bachelor of Naturopathy in 2010. Prior to being a naturopath Sarah was a beauty therapist for 9 years, so she has nearly 20 years of combined knowledge about skin. She also has a Diploma of Remedial Massage and Diploma of Aromatherapy specialising in Lymphatic and Relaxation Massage with over 14 years experience.

Sarah has worked here at Visionary Health for 6 years as both a Naturopath and a Lab Technician, and enjoys attending seminars and webinars to keep updated on the latest research in natural medicine.

As a naturopath Sarah treats the person as a whole not just their disease. She believes that disease is multifactorial, and that just treating the symptoms only masks the underlying cause.
Sarah offers expert naturopathic advice and utilises many different health modalities (Nutrition, Homeopathy, Herbal Medicine). She can formulate specific amino acid and nutritional blends for your needs to achieve the best possible personalised care that suits your health and lifestyle requirements.

Sarah specialises in treating digestive complaints (including SIBO), immune support, autoimmune conditions, cancer support, allergies, thyroid, skin conditions, kids health, stress and adrenal fatigue, sleep issues, Pyrrole Disorder and MTHFR support. When she’s not here she enjoys rockabilly and swing dancing and having fun with her friends.

Roch Shamley

Medical Herbalist

 

Roch uses his skills and experience to combine and use many healing modalities in the treatment of a wide range of acute and chronic disease states. Even though he is semi-retired, Roch hasn’t stopped learning and remains dedicated to our industry.

Roch maintains a strong interest in natural health by staying up to date with the latest research. By doing this he can continue to pass on state of the art knowledge to our staff and customers.

Emma Wink

Naturopath

 

Emma has been a naturopath for over 16 years. She studied at Nature Care College where she completed an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy as well as concurrently studying at Charles Sturt University where she completed a Bachelor of Health Science in Complementary Medicine. She has a special interest in hormones, fertility, weight management and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Emma has been with Visionary Health for 7 years. Prior to working here, she had her own private clinic and has been an account manager for a traditional Chinese Medicine Company. All up, Emma has been in the natural health industry for 20 years.

She loves the outdoors, especially hiking and surfing, and spending time with her family and close friends. She is an avid cook and loves experimenting with food and flavours, and likes to use food as medicine.

Lorraine Keast

Medical Herbalist

 

Lorraine has been working here at Visionary Health as a medical herbalist for 12 years. She studied at both Gracegrove College in Newcastle and Charles Sturt University in Bathurst. She has an Advanced Diploma of Western Herbal Medicine, Diploma of Medical Health Science and an Advanced Diploma of Iridology.

Lorraine takes a holistic approach to both mental and physical health and loves to connect with people by giving support, empathy and encouragement. She feels that she can contribute to improving your health and wellbeing, and looks forward to meeting you.

Lorraine believes that the team of practitioners here offer such a broad range of knowledge that we’ll be able to help you in some way.

Outside of work she practices mindfulness through gardening, art, playing the piano and catching all the fish in Lake Macquarie.

Jess Connolly

Naturopath

 

Jess studied to become a naturopath at the Australian Institute of Applied Science graduating with an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy. She has a special interest in mental health and emotional wellbeing as well as nutrition and mycotoxicity.

Jess is also one of our lab technicians and has been working here at Visionary Health for 4 years and within the pharmacy field for 8 years. Jess also practices privately in a clinic at Warners Bay, www.puraom.com.au

She continues her education with research and by attending seminars regularly.

When Jess isn’t at work she trains in Kung Fu, loves water skiing and enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and travelling abroad.
